When Clark saw Alicia for the first time, he said to his friends “I’m going to date that girl”. And it seems he was right. Alicia and Clark are both passionate about their work as lobbyists and while it may seem they have a fairytale story fighting political issues hand-in-hand, it’s a different kind of fairytale. They are actually opposites in their political stance and so they simply agree to disagree. So often, you hear single men and women saying they could never date someone they didn’t see eye to eye with on the “big issues”. But Alicia and Clark are proof that love is bigger than that. These two have been together now for about a decade and truly admire, respect and adore each other tremendously.
Their wedding is absolutely one I will never forget. Alicia and Clark wanted to complete a good portion of their portraits before the ceremony and I’m so glad they did. We concluded portraits just 20 minutes before the ceremony and when we arrived the their Vero Beach wedding, there were the darkest most intense clouds I’ve ever seen; and they were coming towards us! It was too late for an alternative and I really admire the way Alicia and Clark embraced the unexpected and proceeded with their ceremony on the beach. While the officiant took a break from the vows to talk about the meaning of marriage and love, Clark kindly and politely interrupted him, looked behind him and the clouds and said, “would it be okay if we skipped this part, it’s coming!” They exchanged their vows and as they kissed for the first time as husband and wife, the rain began; and when I say it began, it opened up and poured!!! There wasn’t much of a break in the rain for the rest of the evening!
We arrived to the Quail Ridge Country Club in Vero Beach where the ladies raced to the bathroom to dry their hair and clothes and reapply their makeup. We were able to finish family portraits in the lobby of the country club and with that, it was time to celebrate! We were with Alicia and Clark to the very end of the night and it was such a pleasure to be part of this wedding!
